2010 FIFA World Cup Quarter-Finals



Only eight teams left in the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament.  After a fifty six matches, the quarter-finalists have to battle it out for a crack at the chance to be crowned as the 2010 FIFA World Cup Champion.

Here are the matches for the Quarter-Finals.

A hungry Netherlands team will try to stop Brazil in winning their sixth world cup trophy on their quarter-final match.  Both teams secured their respective groups with one match to spare and both still undefeated in the tournament, but one has to give in as they fight it out for a spot in the semi-finals.

Two-time winner, Uruguay will try to stop Ghana, the only African nation left in the tournament, in their quarter-final match.  Both teams are considered to be the dark horses of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Uruguay struggled to qualify for the finals and Ghana being the youngest team in the tournament.

2006 FIFA World Cup Quarter-Final, host nation Germany won against Argentina, 4-2 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 after extra time.  After four years, the same nation meet again on the same stage, will it be the same result.  Will Germany advance to the semi-finals or will Argentina get to avenge their defeat four years ago.

Its two different football playing styles, one relies on defense while the other on offense, both teams are focused for that slot on the final four.  A fourth place finish for Spain in the 1950 World Cup is the farthest they’ve gone, the goal of winning this year’s cup is their aim.  While Paraguay have broken new grounds and are intent on going further, progressing higher than expected.  The winner of the match gets a semi-final slot and will write their own history.
