What can you say about the fresh and new look that we are now using for CyJen.com?

A month ago, Jen and I opted to change the design of our site. It was a new look that was more appealing than the first design we used, just by changing themes. Now, we’ve undergone another overhaul for our site, this time, it’s not just a change of theme but the whole site itself.

I decided to use Drupal as the backend of our site, I was familiar with it but was not that of an expert with tinkering it to the extent that it will do what I really want it to do. And since I was lazy to create our website from scratch (I’m a lazy person!). It did a decent job of doing what I expected it to do, as a CMS. Still, there were times that I was kind of irritated or should I say frustrated with it. I won’t go into any details, I just would like to point out that, Drupal is great but it was not just working for us, modules or functionalities that I would like to use. I’m no drupal hater, I like it and its a very powerful CMS in the hands of a very good developer.

Having said that, I decided to migrate to Wordpress , there are a lot of write-ups on how to migrate from drupal to wordpress, since I was using version 5.7 of drupal and wanted to use version 2.5.1 of wordpress, it was a relief that I was able to find article on jungle.ca , entitled, Bye bye Drupal: my journey from Drupal 5.7 to Wordpress 2.5.1 which was a great help, kudos to the author for a clear set of instructions on migrating from drupal to wordpress. There were some manual changes, other than those of from SQL statements and PHP queries, none the less, I was able to migrate easier and faster.

Three days after finishing the migration, I’d say that this will be a welcome change. It would be more much easier for Jen to use. What I like most of Wordpress is that Theming is much easier and both Jen and I would love to have a design that we both made on our own. Also, we decided to use the i3Theme , a Mac inspired theme, since we’re kind of falling in love with our MacBook (We’re selling the other 1).

Hope you like the fresh and new look of our site! Thanks for visiting and do hope you would visit us again!
