This past months, it was a roller coaster ride for the Eraserheads, a lot of things has happened and rumors flew around. As if the ride will never end, the most anticipated and hyped concert went on a sudden plunge as it was cut short.
Ely Buendia, Eraserheads front man, was rushed to the Makati Medical Center in the middle of the concert. With no front act and with just the introduction of the band, Eheads kicked-off with "Alapaap", then continued playing fourteen more songs before a twenty minute break was announced.
Twenty five minutes after the break, Marcus Adoro, Raimund Marasigan, and Buddy Zabala returned to the stage, accompanied by a lady, who was introduced by Marcus as Lally Buendia, Elly’s sister. She was the one who gave the news to the people in attendance.
"Thank you for supporting the reunion concert of Eraserheads. We, however, regret to inform you that due to my brother’s poor health, the emotional and physical stress that he’s been experiencing, we apologize for cutting the concert short. My brother Ely had to be rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Again, we apologize and thank you all for coming here tonight."
“He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother (Lisette Buendia), and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday),” said MTV Philippines and Radiohead director for marketing Ronald Esguerra, the concert organizer. “But we have received word that Ely is now in stable condition.”
I was hyping this concert up and was also planning to go watch it, but under some circumstances, wasn’t able to do so. We are still praying for Ely, and for his condition get better. Also, for another concert, minus the additional bumps on the way.
