Azkals Ready to Bite

With less than two hours before the first match of the Philippine National Football Team, more commonly known as the Azkals, against the host team Myanmar, in Yangon, Myanmar.  ABS-CBN Sports, the broadcast partner of Philippine Football Federation for the Azkals games, has announced that they were not given a permit by Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) to broadcast the matches for the AFC Challenge Cup Group Stage live via satellite, an they are currently in negotiation for the broadcast rights for the copies of the Azkals games, to be able to televised the games in the Philippines as early as possible.

This came as a very sad news to all fans of football and the Azkals, as a lot of us would want to watch the game live, fans now are relying on Cedelf Tupas, sportswriter from Inquirer, and Craig Burrows, of PinoyFootball.com, to give as updates via Twitter and Facebook. Follow @cedelft and @craigburrows on Twitter, they might be able to give updates on the match.

Thanks to Craig Burrows from PinoyFootball.com for giving us an update about the team, more specifically the team formation that the Azkals will be implementing as per Coach Weiss decision.  The Azkals will be employing a 4-5-1 Formation, correct me if I’m wrong, this is the first time that the team will be implementing this kind of formation.  The Azkals First XI are as follows:

Neil Etheridge

Roel Gener  =  Rob Gier  =  Anton Del Rosario  =  Ray Jonsson

Simon Greatwich  =  Aly Borromeo
James Younghusband  =  Angel Guirado  =  Chieffy Caligdong

Discussions about the new formation has been ongoing in Twitter and Facebook.  Will the new formation be helpful to the team or otherwise?  Will the team be able to adjust to the formation?  Will the players that are moved a different position from the one they are used to be able to play well?  There are a lot of questions about this, and it will only be answered during and after the match.  Hoping that the Azkals win the games and I can find a stream somewhere in the internet world to watch it.

Philippine National Football Team “Azkals” Advances

The Philippine National Football Team, more commonly known as  “Azkals”, advances to the Group Stages in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup 2012 after they win with a 3-2 score on aggregate against the Mongolian National Football Team (Blue Wolves).

After a very dominating 2-0 first leg match from the Azkals last February 9, 2011 at Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City against the Blue Wolves.  The second leg in National Stadium in Ulaan-baatar was a 2-1 win for the Blue Wolves, but it was not enough as the scoreline made it 3-2 on aggregate in favor of the Azkals.

A lot of the Azkals fans were expecting a win, of the match, from the team after all they were the better team, although they still qualify and move to the next round.  Its different if the team had won the match, a lot of us expected more from them.

My take on the recent showing by the Azkals are as follows;

  • The most important factor to consider was the climate that Ulaan-baatar has, its the coldest capital in the world,  even with the time that the team spent in Japan to be able to acclimatize to such cold weather was not enough.
  • Second would be the ordeal the team had to go through just to travel from Japan to Mongolia, they were in Japan as an 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit the country, they had to transfer from one place to another just to be able to go to Mongolia.  Also, the recent events in Japan might have had a great effect on the players.
  • Third is that they were missing key players.  Considering the result of the game, the most important key player who was missing was Rob Gier, he’s a part of the solid back four that protected the Azkals goal during the Suzuki Cup.  Neil Etheridge, Jason De Jong and Chris Greatwich were also missing in the match, all of have been key parts of the team on their recent run at the Suzuki Cup.

The team was not like themselves in the first half, even if they scored the first goal at the 5 minute mark, an effect of losing key players, it shows that with the addition of new players they still need to play more so as to be cohesive.  Its just an observation but it seems they were playing sloppy football in the first half, although they got a grip of their game in the second half.

Even if the team lost the second leg, a lot of the fans can have a sigh of relief as the Azkals still qualify for the group stages of the AFC Challenge Cup 2012.

As what Sir Dan Palami tweeted on his account:

“We managd to get thru despite the torturously cold condition. Would have wanted the win, but this will have to do. For now. On to Myanmar.” -@dscpalami

Another thing to take note that happened during the match was Phil Younghusband had an injury and hopefully it will not sideline him in the upcoming matches for the group stages.

On to the next stage, AFC Challenge Cup 2012 Group Stages.

  • March 21, 2011 – Philippines vs Myanmar
  • March 23, 2011 – Philippines vs Palestine
  • March 25, 2011 – Philippines vs Bangladesh

News About Sony PSP2

There might be an announcement on January 27, 2011 about the new handheld device from Sony, the Sony Playstation Portable 2 (PSP2) in one of the Sony events in Tokyo.

VG247 and MCV posted about the upcoming announcement of Sony from unnamed sources.  Though there is still no official announcement from Sony that they will be unveiling the next generation gaming device in their event.

With the Nintendo 3DS scheduled launch in February 26, 2011, the announcement of PSP2 will again make a good competition on the market between the two devices, since the new toy from Sony is expected to be released late this year

The console, which is currently under wraps, is expected to be released later this year.exo

Shifting Signs Or Not?

If you’re one of those people who would oftentimes read a daily Horoscope, you should already know the news about a new Zodiac Sign, Ophiuchus (Serpentarius), and also the shift in Zodiac Signs.  So do you still have the same sign?

The moon’s gravitational pull on Earth, caused a change in the alignment of the stars pushing it a month back, according to Astronomy Professor Parke Kunkle of the Minnesota Planetarium Society.  Prompting him to say that the Zodiac Signs have changed and that there is a thirteenth one, Ophiuchus, reported by Fox 9.

NEW ZODIAC SIGN CHART

  • Capricorn January 20- to February 16
  • Aquarius February 16 to March 11
  • Pisces March 11 to April 18
  • Aries April 18 to May 13
  • Taurus May 13 to June 21
  • Gemini June 21 to July 20
  • Cancer July 20 to August 10
  • Leo August 10 to September 16
  • Virgo September 16 to October 30
  • Libra October 30 to November 23
  • Scorpio November 23 to November 29
  • Ophiuchus November 29 to December 17
  • Sagittarius December 17 to January 20

Update: They say that the change in Zodiac Sign are only for those born 2009 and onwards.

But an article from dailyhoroscope.com came out debunking the statement given by Prof. Kunkle, saying they went straight to Astrology expert Jeff Jawer and came up with this explanation.

“There is no truth in this,” Jawer said. “Western Astrologers use the Tropical Zodiac, which is based on the seasons, not the signs. Anyone who seriously researches the subject would know that.”

Jawer shares these three simple facts to help clear up the astrological matter:

  1. Astrology is Earth-centric. Not Star- or Moon-centric. If the Moon’s relative position to the stars changes, that doesn’t mean the Zodiac changes.
  2. Western astrologers have used a Tropical or season-based Zodiac for about 2,500 years. That is why time and location of birth are so important.
  3. The signs of the Zodiac, while represented in constellations, are not derived or aligned exclusively with constellations (although they did so coincidentally around 2000 years ago.)

Now which sign are you?

As for me, I am who I am, I won’t deny that there are times that I would check my Horoscope, but for it to be something that I can use as a guide, and other times would be a means of comparing how I live my day to day life with what was written for me according to the stars.

Thanks for reading and have nice day! Ciao!

Back Again, and Again

We’re back again, with posts from me and Jen this past weeks getting more frequent than before.  Jen postings pictures of foods she often cook at home which I hope will continue the whole year for us.  I plan on posting updates about lots of stuffs this year, of course, some of them might come late, which most of the time is the reason for me not posting about them the past year.  I think I should stick with the saying, “Better late than never” to be able to have frequent updates.

Last week I was able to finish the website I was developing for Dairyman Ice Cream, which came in a good time since its the start of the year and a new venture for the company.  It took a while for me to finish it since most contents for the site was given a little late than I expected them, still I am satisfied with the outcome.  You can visit the site at http://www.dairymanicecream.com.  Drop me a comment about the site, and if you have any suggestions you could also tell me, this will help me improve the site and will take it as constructive criticism.

For now, Jen and I are planning for our baby CJ’s upcoming first birthday, next month CJ will be turning one, it was a year full of blessings for our little girl.  Since her birthday falls on a weekday, we decided to move it on a Saturday so that her godparents (insert smirk here) and guests will be able to attend.  We’re still on the planning stage, since we’re on a tight budget, it will just be a simple celebration, enough just to thank the people that have helped us for the first year of CJ.  Though, our utmost thanks goes to our Lord for blessing and giving CJ a healthy body this past year and for more years to come.

Hope everything goes well this coming days. icon smile Back Again, and Again Ciao! See you around!

PS:

Its been a week since the new year started, would love to be able to update the site more often this year.  Well, I wrote at the start of 2010 that I would be writing more often, which was a kind of a down for me since I wasn’t able to do it.  Hopefully, fingers crossed and all, I will be able to have frequent updates in 2011.
