If you’re one of those people who would oftentimes read a daily Horoscope, you should already know the news about a new Zodiac Sign, Ophiuchus (Serpentarius), and also the shift in Zodiac Signs. So do you still have the same sign?
The moon’s gravitational pull on Earth, caused a change in the alignment of the stars pushing it a month back, according to Astronomy Professor Parke Kunkle of the Minnesota Planetarium Society. Prompting him to say that the Zodiac Signs have changed and that there is a thirteenth one, Ophiuchus, reported by Fox 9.
NEW ZODIAC SIGN CHART
- Capricorn January 20- to February 16
- Aquarius February 16 to March 11
- Pisces March 11 to April 18
- Aries April 18 to May 13
- Taurus May 13 to June 21
- Gemini June 21 to July 20
- Cancer July 20 to August 10
- Leo August 10 to September 16
- Virgo September 16 to October 30
- Libra October 30 to November 23
- Scorpio November 23 to November 29
- Ophiuchus November 29 to December 17
- Sagittarius December 17 to January 20
Update: They say that the change in Zodiac Sign are only for those born 2009 and onwards.
But an article from dailyhoroscope.com came out debunking the statement given by Prof. Kunkle, saying they went straight to Astrology expert Jeff Jawer and came up with this explanation.
“There is no truth in this,” Jawer said. “Western Astrologers use the Tropical Zodiac, which is based on the seasons, not the signs. Anyone who seriously researches the subject would know that.”
Jawer shares these three simple facts to help clear up the astrological matter:
- Astrology is Earth-centric. Not Star- or Moon-centric. If the Moon’s relative position to the stars changes, that doesn’t mean the Zodiac changes.
- Western astrologers have used a Tropical or season-based Zodiac for about 2,500 years. That is why time and location of birth are so important.
- The signs of the Zodiac, while represented in constellations, are not derived or aligned exclusively with constellations (although they did so coincidentally around 2000 years ago.)
Now which sign are you?
As for me, I am who I am, I won’t deny that there are times that I would check my Horoscope, but for it to be something that I can use as a guide, and other times would be a means of comparing how I live my day to day life with what was written for me according to the stars.
Thanks for reading and have nice day! Ciao!
